GCC’s program engages high school students year-long on a global theme that consists of:
- Standards-aligned curriculum that prepare students with relevant content knowledge and 21st-century skill-building.
- Innovative Global Youth Summit that brings students from participating schools together for a day of problem-solving, collaboration, and design.
- School community action plans that address the global issue in a local setting, culminating in a year-end Concern to Action Showcase.
- Student Field Visit where selected student leaders participate in a week-long educational overseas trip to one of Concern’s operational countries.
Open to secondary schools (grades 9-12) in the NYC, Chicago, and Boston metro areas. Participation in the program is free-of-charge. Download the Program Overview to learn more about each program component.

I love everything about GCC – the people, the materials, the workshops, all of it! For teachers who are searching for ways to challenge their students while encouraging them to expand their horizons, the program is perfect. It also offers a few students and teachers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join Concern staffers for a field visit. This past summer, I was thrilled to be able to accompany one of my students to Tanzania where we spent a week “on the ground”.

GCC’s curriculum was transformative. The activities are extremely well thought out, interactive, engaging, and involve critical thinking at the highest level. I was deeply impressed with the level of engagement and the rigor of the work. The curriculum is aligned with the Core Curriculum standards, and offers students a chance to develop empathy for human rights crises and to see how they can make a change.

[My students] were highly engaged, and because GCC supplied a well-designed, comprehensive curriculum, it was relatively easy for me to implement.”
